These blankets were made using the pattern described in Part 1 of the previously posted blog. Please look for that blog for details. Also I wanted to add that the last pictured blanket was donated in the first batch of blankets as well but I couldn't fit it in the first blog. The first three were made this fall and will be donated in December 2009. The beige blanket is the same color I wrote about in the part one of this blog. The first pictured blanket I made as a boy blanket but I have been told looks like a girls blanket... what do you think? Comment below!

Crochet Traditional Granny Square Afghan PT 1
I love this pattern because it really is so quick and easy. You can easily use any kind of yarn and hook and it all comes out looking great! I got the basic pattern from Lion Brand- Granny Treasure Afghan (the link is down below as this is NOT my pattern please click the link for the free pattern by Lion Brand).
The second picture shows a white/blue/green afghan and that is the first afghan I ever did using scrap yarn because I was bored one weekend and that's when I got the idea to start making Afghans for charity. Although it wasn't the greatest looking blanket I kept it to donate on Halloween weekend 2009 when I donated the first batch of 17 blankets that I made from January 2009 until August 2009.
I also looove the beige/maroon print blanket in the same picture. The color is Red Heart Sandy Print and I have like 5 unused skeins of it right now. It goes great with any other colors! With that blanket I was using up left over scrap yarn and I think it came out beautiful!
The fourth photo's blanket behind the front one shown as done using another afghan pattern (Lion Brand® Vanna's Choice Crochet Baby Granny Square Afghan) where is the second link I will post below. The first picture's teal/blue afghan also uses the same pattern. Using softer yarn is best for this pattern so it looks less stiff.
These blankets are part of the first batch I have donated and I will post a second blog right after this one with blankets made during the second batch which I am working on right now and plan to donate over Christmas break.

Crochet Teardrop Charity Afghan Quick & Easy Q Hook Pattern

For the Q hook pattern use two strands of the same color yarn held together throughout and change color every two lines for the best look. The first white/red/blue blanket looks better, I think because the yarn was TLC Essentials (some scrap yarn someone donated to me) and its softer texture made it look better than the Q hook Red Heart Super Saver pink/purple blanket. As far as how much I used for this one afghan I had 2 skeins of blue (I think 6oz) 1 of red and 2 of white. I made this one and another ripple afghan I will post in a new blog. Out of the 5 skeins I got two afghans, both of which I was able to make within a week. So I recommend using a softer yarn.

I recommend ending on a number ending in a 7 because I had problems with the numbers given so if these do not work for you try that, but this is what the pattern gives. The Q hook pattern I think I chained 47 or 57 just stop when you feel its long enough and if you end in a 7 it should be long enough.

Crochet Scrap Yarn Simple & Fast Charity Pattern

I loved this pattern because it did go super fast and was not complicated at all. I made 2 purple blankets using only scrap yarn and the orange/yellow/multi color one as well. I liked doing different colors and a different number of rows each so it looks really interesting and different instead of the regular certain number of rows each! Perfect for charity blankets or just when you have scrap yarn you want to use up!
